Notes on false ceiling designs

What are the essential factors for false ceiling design?

You must check five factors before finalizing on a false ceiling design:
a. The Original ceiling height
b. Material selection – based on time
c. Material selection – based on budget
d. The requirement of your room
e. Ceiling fixtures like Lights and fan

Original ceiling height

When we are talking of a false ceiling, it means an actual ceiling or a roof slab is already in place. Now, this original roof slab can pose some limitations to your new false ceiling design. The most important fact to check for is the clear height – that is the dimension from the bottom of the original roof till the top of the flooring. This should be a minimum of 10’6” – this way, you will have 6 inches of vertical dimension to fix the new false ceiling and still have 10’ clear height. Any room lower than 10’ height may begin to feel too small.

Material selection – based on time

False ceiling designs can be of many styles, types and materials. POP false ceiling is one of the most popular methods. Gypsum board ceiling is another preferred option. POP ceilings are cast in situ in your home. They are an art in itself, and also take much longer. It’s best to go for a POP ceiling design if you have a cushion of delay in time. Also, for POP to dry faster, you should install it during the dry summer season. Gypsum board ceilings are a quicker alternative.

Material selection – based on budget

As a whole, your ceiling design depends on material selection. POP works require skilful workers. Along with the cost of the material – POP or Plaster of Paris, the price of false ceiling in pop is quite high. Again, a gyp-board false ceiling is a cheaper option; or you can also choose a look without the false ceiling.

The requirement of your room

Every room brings a unique and different experience to your lifestyle at home – and this can happen with the false ceiling design of your bedroom, the living room and also the hallway.
