Diwali celebration vibe is everywhere, and sometimes we worry about the fire risks of Diwali decorations like diyas. Let’s explore alternative ideas to a child-safe Deepawali.

Diwali celebration ideas

For as far as I can remember, Diwali decoration is lighting candles and diyas at our home. Diwali lights are the traditional ritual that boosts the festive vibes like none other. But, the Diya lamps and candle lights mean open flames of fire and hot burning oil – and that’s a disaster in the making for excited children. And lets’ not even count the many times a Rangoli was messed up. But don’t worry, I have some easy ways to decorate your home safely. The main idea is to make the lights distant or unreachable for kids.

Lights in a jar

Try a contemporary chic look of light strings in a glass jar or bowl. The most exciting bit about this style is that you can ask your toddlers to decorate with it. String lights are made of tiny LED Rice bulbs, so they don’t get heated quickly. Today battery-operated options are available. Switch on the fairy light string, put in a jar and hand it over to your children to decorate the house. Trust me; it is much better than putting matchsticks and candle wicks in those tiny hands. The joy of decorating their home with Diwali lights is just so blissful for children.

Safe Rangoli designs

Say goodbye to sand powder Rangoli designs – they spread away to look a mess. For this year’s Diwali celebrations, try the rangoli mats. The premade Rangoli mats are like a carpet, stick them on the floor and voila – all the auspicious vibes begin to float around. You can choose from many designs in vibrant colours, studded with pearls and gems.
