Safety first
Sleeping is very personal and intimate to us. When asleep, we like to let loose and forget our worries. Oh, sleeping is such a bliss. Now, your bed design must provide you with a safe and secure spot to breeze away into the land of dreams. It is best to avoid sharp edges and pointy corners on a bed. Round edges and smooth corners are two must-haves for any bed design. For me safety is first, is it for you? I suggest you do fret a bit about safety, especially in bed design for kids.
Comfort second
You can browse through all the wooden bed designs catalogue, just like us. But you may still miss checking upon this main pointer – the height, length and width of your bed. The bed dimensions may seem like a dry topic for a home décor enthusiast like us, but this is where all the comfort hides. A bed design which is too low to get up in the morning; or too high to climb onto in the sleepy night is not a happy situation to have. Same goes for the width and the length. I mean you don’t want to overcrowd your room with an oversized bed. Simultaneously, you want to walk around your bed with ease.

So here is your guide to dimensioning a bed design. Furniture Designers’ recommend the bed height to be anything between 20 inches to 25 inches – from the top of mattress to your floor. For the width, you need to consider the size of your room. Try to have at least 24 to 30 inches wide free floor area around the three open sides of a double bed design. The length of your bed has to be a minimum of 72 inches or 6 feet, anything lower to that will leave you hanging in midair, literally.
Now, the good news – most of the latest bed designs measure up to these standards. However, sometimes, with designers’ beds or bed design with storage these numbers may vary. Remember to double check before you choose.
Cushion third
Have you noticed this – a bed design has many plain flat surfaces that face you. And usually, these surfaces are hard enough to knock your head off. From metal bed designs to wood carved box beds, all of them have long large and boring facades. Fret not, it is just how the bedroom furniture is designed. But you don’t have to live with the boredom, try paneling your bed’s headboard and footboard. Cushioned panels wrapped in earthy or exquisite upholstery is the perfect home décor idea. It envelopes you in soft spongy bed design, while adding your favourite print pattern or colour to the room. Cushions are a win–win, do it all tip for your bedroom décor drama.
Sides fourth
Don’t forget to choose a set of side tables that compliment your bed design. Your bed feel incomplete without these tiny little pieces of furniture; consider them as art to express your lifestyle manner. Ask any designer, and they will tell you how side tables are the most impactful way to personalize your space. You can choose to go subtle with a light and simple design or be bold with a statement piece. The options are so many that we wrote an entire post for you – just to help you choose the right kind of side tables. And trust us here, it is The Only Bedside table resource you will ever need.
At last, Style it all up
Every item in your home is thirsty for style, yes, it is! Be it a simple single bed design or the latest double bed designs with box – you can get it all. Still, nothing will ever look nice until you lace it up with your unique style. You see, the bed design is the quaint and lofty piece of home décor that is very needy for your love and care.
Think about it, the basic bed design has not changed a lot, since almost forever. And the reason for this constant is you. Take it as a piece of news – your bed cares for you, and especially for your style choices. From the bedsheet, duvet cover, the bedside table, all the home décor items and even the lights that sit next to your bed makes it look awesome, or not. Our tip here is simple – once you select your bed design, imagine it with your collection of home décor, see how it fits, how it blends in. A bedroom is your cocoon, the design and décor must be as smooth as silk.
